Error Checking

By clicking the button Error Checking, a new panel is added to the interface :

Error Checking Panel

How It Works

The editor checks several rules automatically to signal the most common errors.

When errors are detected, a red badge is attached to the button, showing the number of errors (like the 12 in the screenshot above).

note

Do not worry if errors appear just after you have created your story, it is completely normal.
These are simple indicators that will disappear once you have entered text, set a cover image, added an end sequence...

The Errors

The control panel groups similar errors and displays them in a table.

  • The first column indicates the type of error and the number of occurrences.
  • The second column provides generic information on the reason for this error.
  • The last column allows you to quickly select the elements concerned by these errors - or even delete them if it makes sense (like for unused media for example).

See Appendix A: List of Errors for the complete list of possible errors.

Consequences

Sometimes, certain errors do not prevent playing your story : if a cover image is missing, or if there is no happy ending, for example.

You can therefore launch the test reader or even share the private link of your creation even if it contains errors. However, to be published on the Social Club, a story must not contain any errors.
